On episode 2, Lone Star Deep Dive host Tonya Kleuskens and co-host Mark Nair, talk with Susybelle Gosslee. She is a member of the League of Women Voters of Dallas, former LWVTX board member, and has served as the League's State Chair of Hazardous & Nuclear Waste. She has served as President for three terms and been chair of numerous committees. She is currently chair of the LWV Dallas Education Committee. Susybelle is also the founder of Our Friends Place, a home for girls in need of personal support. We discuss her experiences in these various roles, as well as why she feels it is important for every citizen to vote. During her work with LWV, she also worked to address the issue of capital punishment. Finally, Susybelle has been instrumental in stopping high-level radioactive waste from coming to Texas for the last 20 years. Thanks to her work, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in the Fall of 2023 that no waste will be transported through or stored in Andrews County (West Texas) to a temporary storage facility.
